Joy Dorst is an award-winning designer specializing in
sustainable landscape design. An undergraduate of
Pennsylvania State University in landscape
architecture and graduate of UC Berkeley in
environmental design, she has created beautiful
landscapes in California, Florida, Pennsylvania, New
York and the Netherlands. Joy has taught graduate and
undergraduate college courses in landscape
architecture and design. As the past Chief Learning
Officer of Green Industries Institute, she is an
online learning leader well respected in the fields of
architecture, design, landscape and green professions.
She currently serves as the “green consultant” to
Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association and
related professionals, actively advising the LEED
Building Rating Systems on healthy landscapes and
interiors. She is the past president of the Florida
Landscape Designers Association, a member of the
American Society of Landscape Architecture and
advocate of the U.S. Green Building Council. Joy is a
LEED AP and a leader of environmental stewardship
with communities across America. Joy has worked in
partnership with NOAA, Trust for Public Land, US Green
Building Council, 1000 Friends of Florida, Florida
Nursery Growers and Landscape Association, the
Association of Professional Landscape Designers, and a
number of private and public agencies for nearly 30
